Could you become the next Bear Grylles by learning about the human body and the ecosystem? Maybe. Could you find the confidence to extract DNA from bananas and strawberries, or perhaps turn your smart phone into a microscope and examine the cell composition from local flora? Definitely.
Biology is the study of living things. All the way from the evolution of planet Earth, down to the inner workings of the human immune system.
Students often become easily overwhelmed by the sheer amount of knowledge required to successfully complete the HSC Biology exam. To help overcome this we have a large focus on completing past exam papers and linking the content to real world examples. This helps students feel confident with their knowledge and prepared for whatever their exam has to throw at them.
We also assist students in the completion of their compulsory Depth Studies in both Year 11 and Year 12.
We cover all areas of the syllabus (see below for modules).
Year 11 – Preliminary
- Module 1 – Cells as the Basis of Life
- Module 2 – Organisation of Living Things
- Module 3 – Biological Diversity
- Module 4 – Ecosystem Dynamics
Year 12 – HSC
- Module 5 – Heredity
- Module 6 – Genetic Change
- Module 7 – Infectious Disease
- Module 8 – Non-infectious Disease and Disorders
